Circle and square painting

By Wednesday, mom was tired and son craved 1-on-1 and TV time. Yet again we were excited to start work at 7:15 a.m. However, my idea of exploring negative and positive space (see instructions, below) was met with a response of, "But, Mom, I can't paint in the lines." Which didn't matter to me and the circles did evoke some intention of painting the earth and the planets, even noting how the darker brown blocked out brighter pink. But, ultimately, everything devolved into explosions. Since painting didn't last that long, if you're working with littles, I'd spare the set up time and bust out the watercolors instead.

Instructions for the older crowd

Print two copies of the circles and paint the inside of one set of the circles and one out. Not that you have to stop there (mixed media, anyone?).

We didn't make it to the blank squares, but use these for mini art spaces and more.
